Hire an AI agent developer
I am Hugo Sequier, an AI agent engineer. I take freelance AI agent, bot and automation projects directly, working remotely from South Korea.
What I build
Each item links to a case study with the scope, stack and results of a system I shipped.
- Community and Discord bots: Iryna, a custom AI Discord bot I built solo for the 150K+ member Irys community: moderation, anti-spam, onboarding, games, analytics and a RAG assistant for developer questions. Read the case study
- Document and verification agents: AnalyzTech, an AI verification workspace for floorplans and large construction documents, with a reported 80% time saved on verification workflows. Read the case study
- Multi-agent coding workflows: An OpenClaw MVP studio with 5 AI coding agents, a deterministic Python orchestrator and Telegram approvals, running on a single VPS. Read the case study
- Social and news bots: A crypto news bot on X for CoinAcademy that filters news with AI, publishes about 10 updates a day and replies to comments with a RAG-backed companion account. Read the case study
- Agent memory and tooling: Space, persistent memory for AI agents through MCP, which I designed and built as an indie product. Read the case study
How engagements work
- Scope first: you describe the workflow, the people using it and the outcome you need. I reply with whether it is a fit and a proposed first milestone.
- Build in milestones: a defined bot, agent or integration delivered in steps you can test before the next one starts.
- Ongoing engineering: continued features and tuning after launch, as with Iryna, which evolved for 5-6 months after a one-week setup.
- Remote, based in South Korea: I work with clients remotely.
How to choose an AI agent developer
A demo shows that a model can answer one example. A production agent has to handle the inputs nobody planned for. These are the questions I would ask any AI agent developer, including me, before starting a project:
- Can they show a shipped system? Ask for a case study with the scope, the stack and what happened after launch, not only a prototype video. Every build listed above links to one.
- Does code or the model decide what happens next? Task order, permissions, retries and duplicate checks should be rules in code you can test, with the model doing bounded jobs such as extraction or drafting inside each step. I explain that split in the deterministic layer and AI workflow orchestration.
- Where does a person approve? An agent that sends messages, changes records or spends money needs an approval step before the action that is expensive to undo. See where the human approval belongs.
- How will they test the failures? Ask which inputs should make the agent stop: missing fields, duplicates, permission denials and tool errors. An answer that stops at “the automation runs” describes a template, not an engineered system. The synthetic construction workflow example shows what evaluation cases and blocked actions look like.
- What happens after launch? Agents need tuning once real users arrive. Ask how changes are delivered, tested and handed back to you.
Freelance AI developer or agency?
A freelance AI agent developer is usually the better fit when one bot, agent or workflow has a clear owner on your side and you want to talk directly to the person writing the code. An agency or studio fits better when the project spans several teams, needs a diagnostic before any build, or needs a production rollout with documented permissions and approvals.
I take the first kind of project directly. For the second, see State Method below.
Larger team engagements: State Method
For controlled AI workflow projects that need a diagnostic, a controlled pilot and a production system with explicit permissions and human approval, work with my studio State Method.
